Have you been watching the Amazon Fallout TV Series (2024)? We have. And while marveling at the post-nuclear sets. we started to see things that looked familiar — places that we felt we’d been. And perhaps some of you felt the same…
After watching the same scenery across several episodes, we realized that many of the scenes were filmed in Elizabeth Bay! If you haven’t read our travel itinerary for Namibia, Elizabeth Bay is an abandoned diamond mining town that was open from 1928 to 1948 and processed an immense quantity of diamonds. It sits about 13 miles inside of the Forbidden Zone, which is an area of the Namibian desert that’s closed to the public. The Forbidden Zone houses many of Namibia’s diamond mines and the land is partially owned by diamond company De Beers.
If you want to visit Elizabeth Bay –either because you want to explore a ghost town, learn about the area’s history, or visit one of the main shooting locations for the Fallout TV series — we highly recommend traveling with Namib Offroad Excursions, who can organize a tour for you.

You may have also noticed a few other Namibian locations in the Fallout TV series including Kolmanskop, another abandoned mining town, north of Elizabeth Bay (a more commercial tourist destination), as well as the Eduard Bohlen shipwreck. This 300-foot-long shipwreck is located about half a mile from the ocean in the middle of the desert about 75 miles south of Walvis Bay. It can be reached overland by driving through the desert (only attempt this if you’re a experienced off-road driver).

The Casino of Elizabeth Bay (the building on the far left in the above photo) was where the workers of the diamond mine could relax, buy alcohol, and dance. Our exclusive walkthrough video offers a rare peek into this one-of-a-kind establishment, and gives you a glimpse of what the Fallout world really looks like.
