There is so much to see in Northern Italy from quaint Alpine villages to bustling urban centers to charming historic towns. Given its variation, it can be difficult to determine what and where to prioritize. That’s why we’ve created this two-week best of Northern Italy itinerary; to guide you to the highlights, as well as some undiscovered gems.

Northern Italy includes the regions of (from west to east): Piedmont, Val d’Aosta, Liguria, Lombardy, Trentino-Alto Adige, Emilia-Romagna, the Veneto and Friuli Venezia Giulia. Between the economic engine of Milan and the well-heeled cities of Alto-Adige (also known as Südtirol), the northern regions have some of the most wealth in Italy. Fittingly, northerners tend to be extremely proud of what their area has to offer.
